Trends that come and go
A new study from PureGym in the UK has revealed the fitness trends set to blow up in 2024. Based on data from Google, YouGov, independent surveys and their own member data, the researchers took a look at “the increase or decrease in the number of people searching for almost 200 different fitness trends.”
After a huge spike in interest late last year, it seems Wall Pilates is going nowhere fast, and will remain a firm favourite in 2024. In fact, all Pilates is here to stay, with mat and reformer still winners across the board.
Tarzan and primal movements have both experienced a huge increase in interest too, with 529 and 81 per cent increases respectively.
The report also flags branded workouts like Pvolve, backed by Jennifer Aniston and up 512 per cent, and Hyrox, up 233 per cent.
The research also examined the trends on their way out, including workouts, challenges, and specific exercises, mostly spawning from TikTok. These highly viral fads include weighted hula hooping (down 55 per cent), eye yoga ( down 19 per cent) and forehead workouts (which dropped 64 per cent).
